Good evening everyone; I hope you all had a nice day. One more day till the weekend!:2223:

A former co-worker of mine told me today that he is supposed to be getting some pups of a banana called 'Silk'. I knew it sounded familiar so I looked it up in my banana book and in Hortus Third and all I can really find out about it is that another name for it is 'Apple' or 'Silk Fig' and that it is a triploid, edible variety. I am also told that it is from El Salvador. Does anyone have any other important info on this particular variety? I am supposed to be getting a pup at some point. Thanks for any info you can provide.

Kylie,

I tried your link, but it just says Error 404, page not found. I'll do some searching on the internet. Thanks for trying!

A lot of people stopped carrying this variety due to it's susceptibility to Panama disease. I grow it because it is one of my favorite tasting bananas, and a perfect height for my yard. I've had it in my yard for about 15 yrs., no sign of disease yet (knock on corm)! lol. Here's a link for more info: http://webebananas.com/bvar-R-S.html

Thanks for the info, Brian. Hopefully I'll be able to try this one out for myself soon! Sounds like a good one.
