But a windstorm knocked the pseudostem down the night before we returned from vacation. 38 fingers too! May not sounds like a lot to you guys in Cal. or FL, etc., but for my zone 7a yard it would have been a record. My previous best bunch was 15 fingers. Tall Orinoco:

It bloomed in the latter part of July, so I would've been able to harvest them before frost and let them ripen the rest of the way indoors. I do have two more bunches going though, but this one still stings a bit!

I've got a bunch of Orinocos hanging that's not much bigger than that. Serious bummer.

Yeah, bummer is right! You can bet that my other two bunches are securely propped up right now. My usual bunch size is about 2 hands with around 10 fingers or so total. I was giddy when I saw this bunch opening up with 20 fingers on the first two hands! Oh well...

On a side note, I do have 28 fingers on another bunch, and 16 on the other one. I must be doing something right with them this year! I think the muriate of potash helped a bunch.

It sucks to lose any size bunch, especially in your climate zone. Good luck on the others!

Ouch....sorry to hear about that. Its been a rough summer overall. Killer Freeze on Easter and now in the midst of an extended drought. I would guess things are very dry over in Knoxville too.
