My mom has green thumbs (to her armpits I swear). I have a small bit of that, but it has been a lot of trial and error to get there, but I love plants.
She has a dwarf banana she bought on sale from one of the seed/plant catalogs around five years ago. It is THRIVING and healthy. Her question to me the other day was, "How do I get this bugger to bloom/fruit?" So I'm bringing it to the banana.org geniuses - HOW do we get this gorgeous herb to FRUIT?! Thank you!! I am not sure the specific name of the plant, just that it was tiny when she bought it and it is 6' tall and in a 15 gal pot in her living room currently - and keeps going!! ![]() An aside - I do TC, and it has some pups, I think I'll be doing some tc'ing of a pup this summer, because I can more than out of need... that's in the future though, . THANKS GUYS!! Bunspinner |

Hello and welcome. If you can post a photo of the plant, it will greatly aid in answering your question. Bananas don't really have any trigger to make them fruit, they do it when they are mature enough in roughly the same cycle. However, the length of that cycle is highly dependent on the variety and it's growing conditions and can vary widely, and especially if it is in a container it is very important to really see the plant so we can get a good judge of it's current size versus it's potential size in the container.

I'll get a picture posted ASAP ... we're in zone 5 (NW PA); it is super healthy, and in the summer it is outside in full sun all summer with superior growth and health.
Thanks guys! |
