That is so cool. Isnt that your 4th bloom since summer? You must be at the zone 8 banana capital. How did the others turn out? Good luck with this bunch.

That is far past a flag leaf so I have to ask often do you water your plants back in that thar sunroom or do you not look above the pot most times that you tend to your plants? Perhaps if I stopped looking at my bananas they'd break out in bunches.

Congrats!

Mark that is bloom number 5. My grain nain bananas got to about 2" then ripened and split open, the double mahoi that bloomed half in the plant half out really didn't develop much really small 1-2" bananas. The blue Java ice cream has about 3" bananas and are growing slowly along with my Orinoco 3-4" bananas slowly growing. This latest one to bloom is number 5 and is a dwarf namwah.

Kat2 I usually check and water every couple weeks and this plant was about 15' when I cut it down to about 9.5' so it could fit in my sunroom. It was still so the top was jammed against the roof. I discovered the bunch because I found flowers on the ground but hadn't had a bloom since October. The are very pale because they were covered up by multiple leafs.

Coug99,
I am almost done with my indoor arboretum that I will have banana plants and citrus trees in. I am curious, I have a ice cream banana plant that I received last April at 10" and it is now at 10+ feet. The height of my room is 21 feet. How tall do these plants get?
How warm does your sunroom stay over the winter time?
Thanks,
Craig

Mine Grew to about 15' every year before I cut it down to a little under 10' tall the last 2 or 3 years and again this year. The flower came out of a cut pseudostem. I keep my sunroom at about 63F.

Chris,
I am new to this so please pardon my ignorance.
When you cut 5 feet of the top of the plant are there any leaves left?
My plant right now is semi dormant being inside with only a fluorescent fixture providing light to it for the past two months but I still have two very strong leaves with five some what raggedy leaves hanging in there. Hoping that in a month it will be it's new home with plenty of light. But even at 10 feet, if I cut off 2 feet of the pseudostem there would be no leaves left.
