Hi all! Im Dominik from Poland. Most people from USA think that we have only snow and cold weather in Poland. But it is not true. We have hot part of the country (south) and little colder on north, but it is not so bad,
the greater part of the year is pleasant and warm for our exotic plants :)
When i was 5 or 6 years old i start my adventure with edible tropical plants. My first favoured plant was banana. I hope so my great love for bananas will be alvays the same and never end. See You on the forum. :2738:

Welcome.

Welcome Dominik! I'm curious, what are your low temperatures in the winter where you live? Are you able to grow them outdoors this time of year?

Thank you for the warm welcome here Friends!
@Red Sky, we have similar climate like north part of USA. No, its imposible to plant bananas here outside in december, first short frost starts here on october. We can plant them here without protection from april to september, sometimes to october. This winter was relatively warm in my area, we have only about -14 celsius. Last 10 years minimum is about -26 C (locally about -30) here. Usually winter (longer than few hours frost) starts here in december or january, february is colder and march is mixed (little winter and little spring). 4-5 months/year are warm/moderate warm, 1-3 really cold and others are mixed. There is my weater station with archival data:

I live in windy area near sea - so i dont try plant banana outside. But my friends from other Polish regions grow bananas outside. Most of them take back bananas to home after first frost.

WOW! You are a winer! Congratulations! :08:I asked for pictures and got them! Wow! I don't have a dainty hand but mine would never measure up to your shots. Wow! So glad you and others have weather stations; I follow one less than a mile from my house and am so thankful it exists.
Welcome again.
