This is the only Banana plant I am trying to grow indoors. I got this little Siam Ruby pup from my good friend Al. That's right Al,you are a good friend! Anyway, this plant had no roots, and only about 1/2 a corm. It really looked like a goner. This time of year I had no chance trying to grow new roots outside, so I kept it in. I kept it about 4 feet away from my wood stove for a little extra heat. I checked for roots every other week. Last week when I checked it had a good amount of roots and a small pup that hadn't broken the surface yet. Well in this pict the first tiny pup leaf is unrolling. Amazing how tough these plants can be.
This one is on me Al!:nanadrink:

Thanks for the update. I'm embarrassed that I didn't do a good job separating it from the mother. I hope I have learned a good lesson from this. You have the Midas touch. :goteam:

Ok, new developments. We have a cigar leaf on the cutest pup ever. Pup has a 3 inch pstem. The thing that really got my attention is the main stem. It looks like it is splitting at the base. I know I have seen picts of this before. Either the stem is splitting because it is going to send up new growth through the top, or it is splitting because the new growth is going through the side. I can't waite to see what happens. Anybody ever seen this on a small plant like this?

Some splitting is normal on certain types, but I have seen this happen when they choke mostly, if so its gonna really split soon lol. I am guessing choking or backed up leaves but not certain.

It's kinda cool. The split keeps getting bigger. I will post another pict in a few days. For a plant that I didn't give much hope, it sure is throwing surprises at me.

I couldn't help myself. I just had to cut all the dead plant material off, and clean up the little plant. We will see how the little Siam Ruby progresses from here.

That little devil is tougher than NFL line backer. I tried all summer to murder its mother but she had a strong baby and is now in rehab. Mark keep doing whatever your doing and keep us all up to date on its progress :2738::drum:

Pretty much just keeping it warm, watering once in a while, and keep it under a light next to a window. I certainly will be my comeback plant of the year.
I might add Al,I really like your weather sticker.
