Hello All,
I am (obviously) new to this site. My wife and I recently purchased a house and I have been feverishly trying to restore the yard (previous owner neglected it). My plan is to plant several fruiting trees/bushes around the border of the yard and grow vegetables in a raised bed next to my house. I am hoping to make a banana plant (either in-pot or in-ground) part of the bounty.
Thanks,
Zipster

I hope you plan on having more than 1. Once you get started, 1 becomes 2. Then 3, and so on. I started with 1. Now I have 10 different plants. Good luck, and welcome to the org.

I can do better than that. Zipster, if you ever come north, pm me, I have some great starter plants for you. Basjoo and Tall Orinoco. Basjoo you can leave in the ground year around with protection. Tall Orinoco should be removed and stored indoors, but stores well bareroot. I might even throw in a Truley Tiny. I call it a just for fun plant. Research the plants I listed and see if any or all will work for you. I would just love to welcome a new member and give them their first banana plant or plants.

Wow, that's awesome. I don't travel to Washington too much anymore, though I am originally from there. My sister lives in Seattle, so next time we drive up to visit her I will let you know.
