Its a stunning banana, saying that its very cold sensitive banana not only by experience ,but going by the posts I have read over the years they can only be successfully grown and fruit in certain parts of California and Florida.

A lot of people want it because there are comments about it being the best tasting banana. It's one of the few I grow that's worse than a grocery store banana and I've yet to have anyone who I've had try it say they especially like it. In terms of taste you're better off with pretty much anything else IMHO.

Hi Rob
I have read that they have to be fully ripe to get full flavour. Jarred had a thread a few year back, were I think he stated they had a nice taste to them.

I think Kru is an excellent tasting banana...but definitely not easy to grow..I have shared many Kru pups over the years and have yet to hear of anyone else getting Kru to fruit. They often are very spindly...so you may want to follow Rob's lead and explore some other options before you invest time growing Kru.
What part of Florida are you in?
All of the pups I have are reserved for another board member.

Mushtaq, this is the post you are referencing :nanadrink:
Very nice. The Red Kru banana is definitely one of my favorites. They don't look so majestic and often look horrible but the blooms and the fruit are out of this world in both appearance and flavor. I have some pics of blooms from mine in my gallery as well.
Hopefully you get fruit from yours next year, please keep us posted.
Enjoy them.. they are well worth the wait.

Thanks my friend!!
I have had Kru around 20 years....lost it once and went to the backup matte at my Mother's house. The saying is "less is more". I have not really focused on Kru..but I will now as I have some requests for pups...
It is a thin very cold sensitive banana...the frost, wind, neglect have taken their toll...but when I have been able to take fruit to maturity (4 to 5 times) it was excellent (IMHO).:nanadrink:
