Is it possible to get an Id on this banana? It was grown from seed (RarePalmSeeds.com). After one year the seeds hadn't germinated, so I recycled the soil (and seeds). Two years later, little bananas began popping up. I had ordered/planted several species. I recognized one of the others that germinated as Ensete glaucum, but this Musa I do not recognize.

Thanks.

It's a very nice looking banana!

Listing what you ordered might help to narrow it down. I know they sell lots of Borneo bananas so it could be one of those, they take a long time to germinate.

Something I should have done before posting. :) I went back through old receipts and found this from 3 years ago:

Ensete glaucum
Ensete livingstonianum (= Ensete gilletii)
Musa balbisiana var. balbisiana

I don't think it's Ensete, so that leaves only one choice: M. balbisiana. It does appear similar to a few images I found online. Of course, there's always the possibility the seeds were mislabeled.

Definitely not an ensete, but a very nice plant. I'm tempted to get some seeds. I was going to say Balbisiana Atia Black, but I'm not sure that RPS sell that variety.

Its not Enstete, most likely the Balbisiana. Photos I looked at online do have the black lines on the edges of the leaf sheaths around the pstem like the ones in your photo.

Yep - not Ensete. Now I have to go look at all the other seedlings that popped up to see if any might be E. livingstonianum.
