I seem to see a lot of people getting pups quick but I believe those are people planting in the ground in good climates. What's the average age or perhaps height for container DC or dwarf orinoco to pup?

I think that depends on the mood of the plant. I have a Orinoco, 2 feet tall with 7 pups. I have a Namwah 3 feet tall,0 pups. It just depends on when the plant turns it on.

Depends on soil, temperature, humidity, variety, and a lot more factors. Don't stress with it, it pups when it pups...

You can get pups in your climate in a container in your (my) zone.
For me it varies could be as much as a couple of years depending on conditions as the other members stated in their previous posts.
I have seen plants for sale at retailers in 1 gal pots with a pup.....go figure.

Your plants are very prolific and will reward you with plenty of pups just give them some time:woohoonaner:

One way to get a few more pups is to stress your container plant.
Cramped quarters, uneven watering, heat -cool and cut the stem, root pruning.
If you have a few plants to "experiment with " try a few ways to make them pup.:)

I'm going to admit how I suddenly got 6 pups from a very young potted DC. (She's in a pot because I haven't figured out where to plant her.) I purchased her from Lowes a couple of months ago; my 1st banana was a DC I had to leave behind when I moved and she only cost $8 so I could afford to be sentimental.) I chose her because she already had a pup which made my cost per $4. I carefully separated the baby; my first successful operation. We've had quite a bit of rain lately which means I didn't have to water but also meant I wasn't paying attention. About a week ago I notice that mama had keeled over--the leaves looked great but the p stem was broken. And it appeared to have rotted at soil level. I removed it and realized there were now 5 more pups growing in a 2 gallon pot. I suspect the plant I purchased may have been stressed or not particularly healthy which could explain the earlier pup which, BTW, is flourishing. I'm too new at this to start whacking off my better bananas' p-stems to exchange pups for fruit but am not displeased at my "bargain".

I used to be stressed all the time and not that patient. It's funny how pension and divorce relaxes a guy! Lol! Can't wait for that Oronico though... I'd say put it in a small pot, a small as you can. Let it dry up at least a week and then water it twice a day. Fertilize too. But keep in mind that I would only try this with the soil mix recipe I gave you. I think I'll try it with 1 of my unknowns.

Depends on Variety, some like Tall Orinoco wont pup for me till they have about 6 feet of pstem and only produces 1 or 2 by digging time, others like my Bordelon started pupping at 2 feet of pstem and is going to be very prolific. My closest Dwarf Cavendish type banana Enano Gigante started pupping about 3 feet of pstem and is prolific, and has given me 5 pups this year. I have noticed with my Basjoo if the top of the corm is exposed a little, it seems to cause a lot of pups to be made, and I got 12 from one plant last year, but this also has a drawback when freezing time hits and the corm is too exposed. Stress does seem to start the pupping process, but dont stress your plants till you get backups lol. Here is another Bananas.org members Dwarf Orinoco that is a good example, doesn't appear they have to be too big.

Definitely do not stress your plants to induce pups. If anything chop the top off the mother to reduce the apical dominance. Being in a good sized pot with a good root system will help it recover and be more vigorous, which in turn will not only give you lots of pups but the pups will be more healthy as well.
