So I got this banana off eBay in January..had it in a pot for a few months and brought it outside when it was warm enough in late april or may. When I transplanted it to the the current pot once I brought it out, it started taking off. Its been growing well, but I checked the bottom and the roots are starting to emerge through the holes. I live in NJ, so..I have about a few more months outside before I have to take it inside before it gets too cold.

Should I transplant it while its still nice out and give it more room to grow? Or just leave it in its current pot and repot again next spring.

I kinda wanna just repot it now and give it more room but don't know if its needed since its been growing great...don't wanna screw it up lol.

Any help would be great, thanks!

Pop it out of the pot. Does it look like the roots need more room? You don't need to go up too fast. Just go up a size or two at a time. Especially this time of year.

I did pot this one up. I could have waited.
Looking at the roots is the best way to know:08:

bet your plant would love you if you did, and the hibiscus needs it for sure.

I would just go a size or 2 bigger now and then plant in the ground next year. Its a musa basjoo and will survive outisde in your area.

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but what is meant by a size or too? Double the size of the current pot now?

Depending on the who made the pot, they usually go up in size by diameter. Or you measure the width across the top. If it is 6 inch,go to a 8 inch, or a 10 inch. My point is, don't go from a 10 inch pot to a 30 inch. In the late spring when the plant really gets going again, then take a bigger jump. Plus the bigger pots are heavy. So if you are moving soon, smaller pot, lighter pot.
