Ich bin dankbar CB!

I finally have an SH3640.
Besides a purchase, it was my first & a learning experience in pup separation.
Dont bring Sunday clothes and definitely bring gloves!
I will eventually have to buy a digging bar
as soon as my mats start maturing.

Highly recommended and a very delight full person!

Cheers:bananas_b

Actually that one was a little faster to get out of the ground, because it was already leaning, but yes, hybridpower and I both were able to skip the visit to the gym that day ;)

While these plants are a bit more expensive, it was worth every penny. Crazy Banana sent me a big sword pup that was in perfect condition, and the vendor took great care to ensure it will root. While it did take a while to get established (I'm in Northern California, so it always take us longer to root pups), it took off once the first leaf emerged. I believe I purchased this in late August of this year.

Very happy with this purchase, I highly recommend this vendor. It's also worth it because you know you got the real deal from Crazy Banana. Here's my new Ice Cream:

I hear good things about the 3640... are they true? If so, I might be looking for one... I am waiting to get to taste some before planting more. Bananas are quite the investment in time, mainly, and space but I don't want to wait a year or maybe two to find out I don't really care for the variety. I may be already wasting space on one mystery banana...see here:

Some tell me Namwah, but I am pretty sure I have those already, and it's quite different... See Namwah here:

VC is one I am looking to taste as they are also short season and cold hardy, or so I hear...

I assume you mean 3640... I hear they rival GM.. almost.. Are they more banana-ey or appley? How are they to grow? Short or long cycle? cold tolerant? etc... I see huge bunches in every pic of them I see. How tall?
Sorry. Just excited.

They are definitely something to be excited about. Not as sweet as Namwah, but also different than Mysore varieties like Pisang Ceylon. Certainly not an apple banana taste. I have not tasted a Gros Michel yet, so I have no comparison.
With normal care they grow easy, are taking colder winter temperatures well and recover quickly after a cold spell.
I have seen photos of nice sized bunches, too, but I am a little doubtful of the weight descriptions I have seen 😉.

VC is very short cycle and very cold sensitive. Not cold Hardy at all in my experience. They are more cold sensitive then even my gran Nain and cavendish types.

Not sure what you mean with "true" dwarf, but dwarf Namwah can get up to 10'+ (compared to tall Namwah 15' +) at flowering.
Dwarf Brazilian has fruited at around 6.5' for me ( no pups available as of June 27th 2016), the "Temple banana" fruits at around 7' to 8' (pups available).
All of my plants are in the ground with little to no protection during our mild winters, so height is not really an issue for me other than the occasional strong wind in late fall.

There are "dwarf", "standard", and "tall" Namwah (Pisang Awak) in circulation with pstem heights of about 6.5', 10', and 14' at fruiting. The fruits of the dwarf Namwa have a median length of 5" and diameter 1.25" while the tall Namwa fruits are on average 6.5" in length with median diameter 1.6".

All care and culture theoretically being equal, is there a difference in fruit production in the different sizes? Quantity and banana size?
