Banana Gallery - kkwa Gallery (http://www.bananas.org/gallery/showgallery.php?cat=500&ppuser=17883)

Hi All,
I live in New Orleans and for the last ten years, my banana trees have been the highlight of my courtyard, a real show stopper!

Mysteriously this year they died off, which I thought was impossible. I usually lost the tops of then if there is a freeze and they always come back. After I chopped off the dead party this year the sprout in the middle poked up a few inches and never grew any more. Kept thinking something would pop back up but I just hauled away dead stalks as the fell over

Those things were always sprouting new chutes and now NOTHING!! I am so sad and heartbroken. The summer and fall before this winter I was having a real problem with the new growth coming up yellow and burnt, not sure if that had anything to do with it.

I want to plant more asap and every day I wait, it is a day it is missing a chance to grow and get large for my courtyard.

I want the exact same banana tree as I had before. Can someone help me identify what name/type of Banana tree this is.

Super super tall is important to me, as is a solid hearty lush green leaf and I love the huge solid pink flower that arrives when it is about to flower fruit.

Thanks in advance if anyone knows what variety this banana tree is ..
And any ideas of where to purchase affordable bulbs.

Many thanks!!

Also wondered how many I should plant in a 4' x 12' space to start them back up again.

On any given year I had about 7 stalks going and a lot of little guys sprouting

I won't be able to help you figure out what you had but the pictures are really, really small for me. Could you post them bigger?
