Thanks Kevin I'm looking forward to trying them for the first time:woohoonaner:.I overwintered the pup in my living room then planted it late April,it was approx. 3 ft tall (p-stem ) when I planted it.
Also I just measured the p-stem and it's approx. 6 ft tall :08:.

Be sure to prune the bottom hands.

Why do you prune the bottom hands? Is it so the others ripen faster?

"Some people break off the "bell" (the bunch of purple flower petals at the end) about 15 cm below the last female hand. That way the banana plant puts its energy and reserves into growing big bananas, and not into growing a long stalk. (Commercial banana growers also remove some of the bottom female hands, so the remaining bananas grow bigger.)"

Thank you! That's why I thought they did it. Good to know. I am probably still a year off from a flower on mine.
