Hello Banana Lovers!

I live in Florida and just moved into a house with a huge backyard which we plan to turn into a tropical fruit forest.

I recently bought some banana "trees" Blue Java and Hua Moa which is a rare variety and I am very excited to learn more about this incredible fruit. I've always wanted to grow my own bananas so these are happy days!!! Please send me any tips you might have on these two awesome varieties and if you get a chance please check out my youtube channel where I vlog all my sublime adventures! Thanks for reading :)

Welcome to bananas.org
Nice place you have there. Lots of space to plant more bananas and other fruit trees.

Thank you crazy banana! I'm so excited for all the potential of this yard. I want to fill it with fruit trees! But I also want to grow raised beds with veggies so I need to keep a few places open. The possibilities are endless! What would you do?

I agree that you probably have more possibilities than other growers in colder climates. Growing up in a much colder climate I have learned that certain fruit trees need a certain number of minimum chill hours during the winter to produce.
One other thing to consider if your space is limited, you might want to grow fruits and veggies that are not easily available at the stores or which are usually more expensive. Besides bananas I have just started to grow my own pineapples, dragonfruit and during the cooler month I am growing veggies like kohlrabi in my raised vegetable beds.
For me it just does not seem to make sense to grow melons on my limited space available if I can buy a water melon at the store for 0.99 cents or 3 cantaloupes melons for a dollar, but at the end, anything homegrown tastes better and is so much more rewarding.
