Hey everyone,

So I live in Zone 8 A (central texas). I had 2 banana trees that were planted in ground and they died in the winter. This time i am planting it in a pot. How do I winterize it (take care of it in the winter)? Winter temps. 20-40 degrees. Sometimes less or more than 20-40:waving:

I am in the same boat as you. I have my plants in pots. Then late fall I will bring them into the garage. My problem comes if the plant is too tall. The header on my garage is only 7 feet. So I still may need to dig some up. If I do need to dig up some plants I will wrap the root ball with landscapers cloth and prop the plant up inside. Then come spring replant again in the ground or in the pot.:bananas_b

My first question is how you protected the plants in the ground. My bananas (Orinoco, Ice Cream, Raja Puri, and Rojo) can manage 20 degrees if I cut off their tops and cover them. Personally, I'd much rather cover them occasionally then put them in pots.
