Finally after 4 years of pulling it in every winter I got a great surprise this morning when I went to water. I checked on my Gran Nain and found a flag leaf coming out. It is going to be fascinating to watch the progress. I always told my wife you could grow bananas in washington state.

Got it as a TC start from a fellow Bananas.org member here in Washington state 4 years ago. It lost a lot of its lower leafs in winter even in my sunroom. Here is a picture of it next to my "blue Java ice cream" Namwah.

Sorry for the delay in updates but have been on vacation. The flower is now out and drooping down and is about 18" in length and in the last couple of pictures you can see the tiny bananas hiding just under the first petals starting to curl up.

Thanks,

It was a 90F degree day today and it was amazing what it did to the flower today. Now you can see the bananas without lifting the petals. Several of the petals have rolled up and four or five hands are visible.

Thanks,
Chris

Here is a couple of weekly photo updates of the Gran Nain. Anyone know when the should really start fattening up.

Thanks,
Chris

Looks amazing! Make sure to leave the male flower on for a bit to get a positive id.
