I have a Saba of TC origin, that at 4 feet is starting to look suspiciously like my Tall Orinoco, I have read somewhere that Saba is a mutation of Orinoco, so I am hoping that is why it looks the same. Anybody out there familiar with the two? I have never seen TC Tall Orinoco for sale, but I am hoping this is not another mix up like Tall Namwah, and Ice Cream, and Tall Orinoco's are being sold as Saba.

To me, they look very similar until they get much bigger than yours, when Saba becomes a taller, thicker plant. I wouldn't be worried at this point. Saba is not a mutation of Orinoco, but they have similar ABB genomes.

In the photos I have seen, they do have almost identical coloration and shininess on the Pstem etc., but like you said the Saba has a much thicker trunk when large. Hope mine is the real thing, I have had a couple of plants turn out lately to be something else.

As Mark said when older you can tell. Saba is thick.

Flowering/fruiting will remove any doubt.
