So my plant has one leaf plus the flag leaf. Will this be enough to sustain the fruit? I have attached a picture describing it.
I hope it will shoot some pups to help it grow.

I would think so. As long as it has enough nutrients... I'm no expert though...

IMO, there are not enough leaves. When this happens to me, I cut the bunch and plant down. Toss in compost and let the pups go. I find the pups will grow faster once you cut down the bunch.

I'm with worm farmer on this one. everytime that happens to me the bunch looks ok for the start,then just sits there and rots right on the plant. So I cut the plant down..
