So this is what's left of the Saba after my dog got it. If you look it's still pushing a leaf but it's sending one out of its side as well. What do I do ? Chop it so it can get a fresh start ?

Lower leaves always die so I'd leave the p stem alone; it should recover nicely unless attacked again. Personally I would take a rolled up newspaper to the pup and tell him "NO, NO, NO!"

Or...

Simply explain why you want him to leave your plant alone. A stray cat came to stay with us in Ohio. Mac was a sweet lady but quite a hunter. The 1st time I took new baby chicks outside to bask in the sun, she eyed them hungrily. "Mac, those are Mommy's; you can't eat them." Did I believe she understood? Not really. But 2 months later she was a trusted member of the menagerie.

Oh and whenever she found a baby bird that had fallen from its nest she let us know quite loudly!

If you mean the lower leaf is busting out of the pstem or choking, you will most likely have to cut it. I had an Orinoco I put back out this spring that did not push a new leaf, finally the sides of the pstem started bulging and splitting so I cut into it and about 3 new leaves busted out that had gotten backed up.

This why I have cats.

I'd leave the stem alone, just like it's a transplant. As Kat2 pointed out, the leaves die off anyway, so you're not losing anything you wouldn't have anyway.
