It's an old story that continues to make the rounds. It is partially true. The best part about it is that we are likely to get better tasting bananas if growers replace the current darling.

I am not fond of bananas unless they're still green/unripe. But I would like to love bananas since they are really healthy and, now that I have the space and climate to grow them, I'm doing my best to do so. Just for grins, since I have a BA in history, I'll probably go buy a cheap DC "tree" to preserve a bit of what was. Where to find a Gros Michel pup?

So if these bananas we are currently buying are Cavendish, and they are much smaller than the Gros Michel, how big is a "real" banana???
