Have had three seeds for months in dirt and nothing has happen. Other people in weeks have roots from water method or in dirt. What happen to mine?
I have 3 doing nothing, too. I'm not really concerned. Plants do things on their schedule and never mine. (Well, sometimes mine but not often.) Keep them watered and practice patience. When fruit prices drop again (95 cents is outrageous), this eternal optimist will pick up a few more seeds to plant. Wanna bet those pop up immediately?

I have one going but no roots yet but is cracked open. I was told to let it dry out for a couple of weeks then do the toothpick method. I think it may be better to just buy em.

My advice is to be patient, and keep them watered. I have a dozen or so seedlings I planted last year in the avo season and they didn't show till march. Now they're only ~12" tall.
I planted them to get cuttings and graft to them from a distraught friend who loves the tree (It's semi dwarf at ~10 feet after 20+ years and the tree is not not doing well) and does not know the cultivar.

I have had it suspended with toothpicks in water with the pointed end down. Wonder if the other end should be down

Yes Al, pointed end up. I have two growing in my garden window. They are about 15 inches tall. One of them did something I haven't seen before. The top of the stock split and has two tops. Be patient, pointed end up,keep in warm spot, and change the water every other day.
