I bought a couple of packs (from hd) of an oriental bean i grew a few years ago which gave huge beans from an extremely handsome vine. Has anyone else grown these? I grew 6 vines and expect to have string beans all summer !

I look for the packs but HD didn't have them every year, I wonder how long the seeds will stay viable?

I know I've used the same pack for at least 3 seasons before with a decent germ rate.
Are they the same as Asparagus Beans (Yard Long Dow Gauk). I'm planting my beans today.

It looks like they are all of Asian origin and are only differentiated by the color of the seeds
Beans are almost always open pollinated because of their flower structure; I wonder if these are? I have always saved seeds from my plants despite growing different varieties in the same bed; I've only repurchased when something happened to my stash or I had a short season thus the 1 plant I designated as the "propogater" didn't have time to fully develop viable seeds.

I grow thai #2 long beans and red noodle beans which are red even when cooked. they love the heat and the beans get bigger as it gets hotter, I think they are better than string beans, both in taste and heat tolerance (summer time veggies in zone 11b).
