Hello, first post..I have been reading for awhile. I live in Oklahoma..and received two small musa basjoos..they are both potted and are taking off nicely. I will plant one in a month, the other I will leave potted. I am trying to fig out what other species I can keep and winterize in my zone? Our winters fluctuate greatly. I have no worries about my current plants winterizing. I have heard I can get a blue java, meekong giant..or california gold that would survive my zone..but have read conflicting information. Thanks for your help.

Those are all great varieties to start out with. Their are so many different ways to winterize. You will have pups to play with in no time. Location, container vs in ground, surrounding shelter all play a big factor in how things work out. Look in the winterization section, you will find lots of good reads.
Some people like to dig up their entire garden for winter. For me......that's way to much like work. I make a cheap plywood box about 24" square and 4 feet tall. I put large eye hooks on 2 of the opposite sides so I can drive spikes in the ground to secure it. Put a hinge and lid on the end.
Trim up your p-stem, place box over plant, secure to the ground, fill it up with dry leaves or mulch, close the lid and mulch thick around the base.

Sit back and drink a beer

I only do this over the first winter or if I have a special plant
