This is my first spring with musa basjoo. Warm temps have been the norm around here lately and there are two pups poking up about six inches. We have a freeze warning tomorrow night, and I live in a low spot, so I know it's going to be below freezing.
Should I cover these shoots or just ride it out?

Since it is your first year you could protect them with a bucket/cover.
But after this year as they get established they can go Commando.
Even if the leaves happen to get damaged with this cold snap your plant is already pushing a new one right behind it.
I am about 35 days behind you till mine pop up.:08:

Considering the winter we had I was surprised to see them up so soon. And of course we always get at least one night with frost after all the tender vegetation has sprung forth.
The growth rate of musa basjoo is amazing! I walked back out to take a look this morning and they grew another couple of inches since yesterday!

Personally I would cover. Nothing to loose.

Mine are starting to sprout here in zone 7, It got down to 38 here last night so just as a precaution I threw a light covering of leaves over them as sometimes it gets a little colder than the weatherman says. They look fine today, supposed to be in the 70s all week after tomorrow, so I am looking forward to some growth.

It got down to 25 here last night. I planted my two almost a month ago, so I was a little concerned. I covered one with a grill cover and the other with a large plastic Tote, and ran a drop light under each one. Kept it almost tropical in there!
