I have a place in my yard that I want to put my Musa Zebrinas that is in full sun. We get a few 100+ days here, and I dont want the leaves to fry. I kept the mother plant in partial shade last year so I am not sure if they can handle the full sun + heat. Its for a flower bed so I dont want poor fried zebrinas as the centerpiece lol. As a separate topic, I am getting enough of them now to experiment with stashing the corms in plastic bags next winter under the house, similar to what I do with my canna, ginger, and EE. I just dont have room for a bunch of four foot plants in containers in my house, and my greenhouse gets too cold. I have read they dont do well bareroot under the house but those attempts were made with leaving the pstem intact and drafts, and drying out may have contributed to failure. I suspect if the pstem is removed down to about a foot, they will make it in a bag used to prevent desiccation, and have heard one other person say this worked for them. I can't see why this would fail, I have overwintered Alocasia, EE, ginger, curcuma, and canna this way. Its true they have storage organs that are a little more developed, but without the pstem, I dont think the corms would run out of stores. They grow so fast and fruit is not necessary so cutting the pstem is not an issue for me.:2738:
