Hi all decided to sign up and wish I had sooner because I've lost most my basjoo this winter outside.
Looking forward to some great advice and seeing what everyone is growing.
So a big hello from me:03:

Welcome to the Jungle!!!:woohoonaner:
Your winters are not that severe to kill basjoos.
Something is amiss.
I hope things sort themselves out.
Do you have photos?

wait until spring you may get some pups if they are in the ground. Mine have died back and started over many times so wait before you dig them up. Good luck.

Thanks guys they were 2 years old in the ground a year but after last years mild winter took a risk and left them unprotected.
Unfortunately I've underestimated how exposed my garden is, it's open fields all round and we're close to the river Thames in a valley.
After numerous frosts they've rotted and collapsed however I got three pups off them last year so if they don't grow back I have backups.

They will generally die back to the ground when a hard freeze happens.
This is normal in cooler climates and they will regrow in the spring.
In some warmer areas they will just lose their leaves which will also grow back in the spring.
You did not lose them they are just taking a rest....wait till spring.
Check out the link when you get a chance.

All ways a good thing. have you covered them even though the tops have frozen?
