Hi all

Just wanted to share a few pictures of my banana plants that I'm over wintering in my house.

I have a large SDC in my living room. It has lost a few leaves since I brought it inside and I have to keep checking for spider mites. They seem to love this plant! I have to mist / wipe the leaves often and sometimes spray for mite control.

I have a small musa basjoo that I am growing in an unheated upstairs bedroom. This plant keeps pushing out leaves even over the winter!

Also in my basement, I have two basjoos, a dwarf orinoco and a SDC pup sharing a 300w led grow light. I give them 8 1/2 hours of light a day and will start to increase their exposure in the next few weeks. I had some fungus gnat problems with these guys but was able to solve it with a natural bacteria that I added to their water.

So far things look ok, but I'm sure they can't wait for spring! and neither can I!

Thanks for sharing - I've learned a lot from this website.

Regards,

Erik G near Philly, PA

Erik, they look great. I brought my Zebrina in late Sept. and left it in my living room just like I did last year and it should have started to go dormat in early Nov. but she started to put out pups and I didnt have the heart to cut her back, I'll just wait and see what she does over the next few months. Isnt it strange how well they are doing inside this winter?

Thanks Christine!

I guess we had more sunny days in our living rooms this year.

Your SDC is awesome!
I gave up with that one because it doesn't like my winters, and apparently is pretty hard to get it to fruit. But yours is a beauty for sure!

Thanks Pancrazio!

This is my first SDC, so I'm hoping to get fruit this summer. The P-stem is about 30". If it doesn't fruit, I might try growing something else.
