Ive had this plant for about 6 years....so its tough but an unknown variety to me.Any ideas?Oh ya...waxy,real waxy.

Hard to say what it is without a flower, but it looks likely to me it is a wild species and not an edible type.

great looking plant... I love the contrast between the pale stem and midribs, and the very dark leaves!

Here are some pics of Musa Violacea from my gallery.
Others are there also....
My Violacea's are surprisingly cold "hardy" given their small size compared to other varieties that tolerate coolness. Each spring whether in pots or in the ground they pop back up .....although I'm in zone 9 but I think that last winter could have qualified as a zone 8 winter here easily.
PS I lived on Van Island for 6 years a while back and glad to see another Canuck interested in Nanners.

By the look of those pics ,I think she is a Musa Violacea. Maybe this summer she will bloom for a final verdict.
