It's been a while since I tried a new banana, so I was very excited about this one that I got from Julian.
1st tasting a bit underripe.

2nd tasting 3 days later.

TEXTURE-Pasty and creamy. I’m not a fan of pasty texture in some Cavendish bananas, but this is more appealing. A few days later it was more pasty, much like a store bought Cavendish, but still more pleasant.
FIRMNESS-Medium firm and dense. Remained firm even when tried a few days later.
SWEETNESS-Slightly sweet when tasted as green as shown in first pic. A bit of astringent taste on the few threads that stuck to the fruit, like on an underripe Cavendish. Tasted a few days later, and quite a bit sweeter but kind of average sweetness. No astringency at that point.
TARTNESS-Very tart. Not as tart as a Mysore, but more than a DB. A few days later much of the tartness went away, such that it was perhaps less than a DB.
RIPENESS-These are supposed to be a green ripe banana, and it already had some black on the peel before turning yellow. Tried again a few days later. Peel still very green and just slightly yellow. The fruit was totally white on first try, and slightly yellow a few days later.
FLAVOR-I just taste tangy with a hint of Gros Michel. Not sure how to describe this one. 3 days later, less tangy, a pleasant aroma and a bit more GM like taste.
OTHER-Has a thick peel that feels much like a Gros Michel, such that peeling it is like tearing a sheet of paper.
OVERALL RATING-7.5. This is a very interesting banana. No strong flavors or aroma, but very enjoyable. Very good overall and I could eat these regularly. I wanted more after each one. I was thinking they would be truly wonderful when I ate the underripe one. However, they did not improve as much as I had hoped. The flavors did get more complex, but it did not get as sweet as I hoped. For someone who likes the taste and texture of a Cavendish, but also likes some tanginess, this is an ideal banana.
SUGGESTED USE-Eating out of hand.
