View Full Version : Who's Canadian here?
Hi. I just like to know whose Canadian on this site. We have great people from all around the world here but sometimes, for some questions or trades, it's easier with other Canadians... It would be nice to make a list; might come in handy in the future!

I'm Canadian.
But, I'm not living in Canada. I'm in Kingdom of Jordan. I visit my family in Oshawa about once every year.

I'm an honorary Quebecois. :D
I spent a lot of time in Quebec Cite and Levis in the latter half of the 80's, and my ex brother-in-law was in the RCMP. I think I'm the only one in the family who understood the Kids in the Hall, LOL.
And I thought I was the only one to understand that show here! Well, I grant you your honorary Québécois status then. Lol! I don't want to have any problems with your ex brother-in-law!!! Lol!

Quebec- the mid 90's, but the Maritimes since then, and BC and Yukon in 2010 on a trip to AK.
I did not go in the US int the last 15 years... I used to go gambling there in my 20's... Eheheh!!! Aaaaah, those little casinos near the border... good old LUCRATIVE times! Seems like you've seen more of Canada than me.

It's a beautiful country. I've been fortunate enough to have visited every province except NL, MB, AB, SK, NT and that idiotic new one, NU.
NU, lol!!! WTF man!!! I wasn't even aware of that one!!! What a canadian I am, hey! They'll take it off the list in probably 50 years or so, when it's all melted out!!! I'm sure people are very nice there but what a loss of time and money... And what did it change to add a new territory? I've been to Ontario and obviously Quebec. Not planning a vacation anywhere soon either. Tired of travelling. That's probably why I plant bananas inside my house! NU! Lol again! Even my dad did not know!

Even my dad did not know! The entire eastern half of the Northwest Territories is now the PROVINCE of Nunavut. I guess the Eskimos were feeling left out, so they gave them their own province about 15 years ago. There's like five towns in the entire damned thing, or some ridiculously low number. Their capitol building is probably an igloo or something. It's the most stupid thing I'd ever heard of.

Interesting place, wouldn't mind visiting it someday.....
"Nunavut is both the least populous and the largest in area of the provinces and territories of Canada. One of the most remote, sparsely settled regions in the world, it has a population of 31,906, mostly Inuit, spread over a land area the size of Western Europe. Nunavut is also home to the northernmost permanently inhabited place in the world...."
Nunavut - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nunavut)
FYI, the term "Eskimo" is considered by many to be disrespectful and has been widely replaced by the term Inuit
Too cold for me! There's no way I'm going there! I've got nothing against people of Nunavut but why make it a new territory? It was already part of another one and it's still part of Canada. Doesn't make sense for me. And you can't even grow bananas outside! Lol!

Hey JP, I'll have you know that a Quebecois stopped by my table today and told me that the little French I spoke was without any accent, LOL.

Hey JP, I've been meaning to tell you a funny story about my trek across Quebec one time, as I was still learning basic French.
I was driving from Quebec Cite to Sault St. Marie on Aut. 20 and I saw a sign for downtown Centerville. A few miles up the road, I saw another sign for downtown Centerville. Seven more miles and I saw another. I was starting to get out in the country, so I thought, "Wow, this must be a big place."
After I passed about three more, I realized the sign was bilingual, like exit/sortie, and every downtown was a centerville! :p
Lol! We do have lots of signalisation when not necessary!!!

Lol! We do have lots of signalisation when not necessary!!!I love the traffic lights y'all have in Quebec. Each color has its own shape, so even a colored blind person can tell what color the light is. I also like the blue light on the side of the salt trucks too, to let you know when they're spreading that crap so you don't pass and have the side of your car blasted off.
I was outside Bromptonville one time and got caught behind a salt truck. I saw the light so I didn't pass. After a while he turned it off and dropped the plow, but it was snowing so hard I figured I'd just stay behind him and let him lead the way, since I wasn't familiar with the area. The road started twisting and turning really bad, but I stuck with him. After 15 minutes or so, he stopped, so I did as well. Then I saw him walking back to my car so I rolled the window down. He asked me something in French that I did not understand, so I said, "Je suis Amerique, et mon Francais est tres mal."
He said, "What are doing?" I replied that I was following him since I did not know where I was going. He then said, "But Monsieur, you will never get there following me around this parking lot!" :D
O'keefe! Lol! I drank that one when I used to drink. I don't drink anymore... Not that I had any problems with it but hey, way better healthwise. has to be room temperature to be good!
Don't forget to pass by if you ever cross the border! I'll just say your my cousin from west island, montreal. Nobody speaks french there! Lol!

LOL! Probably won't ever be up that way again, but you never know. I do know enough to say that I'm American and that's why my French is horrible, lest they think I'm from Toronto. :D
I stopped in a little town up North called Chicoutimi (sp?) in 1988, and nobody spoke English. Had a heck of a time ordering my breakfast at McDonald's. The guy at the Esso station saw my tag and said, "North Carolina, wow! Gives me a chance to practice my English." :ha::ha: Hard to believe that was almost thirty years ago.
Plenty of nice scenery in BC and YT, but Quebec is still my favorite province. Love the people. They remind me of the hospitality that we have here in the South. :nanadrink:
I used to go to Myrtle beach quite often when I was way younger!!! Love those mini-golf courses all over the city. Always stopped at South of the border . Lol! BTW My cacao seeds are sprouting! Got 45 of them. I'm pretty happy!
