I could help if possible. Are there any restrictions on shipping plants to UK? UPS or mabey USPS? I could ship a few small plants but Iwill need details on how to ship. There could possibley a danger of plants dieing unless you can plant now. Freeze and they are history. I have no clue what kind of Banana plants they are, but they are from big trees. I have been raising these for fifty years from three plants. Maybe genetic defectives. Use the private message deal or call. We c

I have heard that unless the packages are clearly identified as plant material they will be fried by the multiple radiations received during the trip. But, known plant material will be destroyed unless shipped according to the laws.. kind've a catch 22...

It might be possible if you find a seller who is willing to obtain a phytosanitary certificate for the planting material.
The link has phone numbers and addresses in the UK for more detailed information.
Good luck.

Steve there are few p[laces in Europe that will sell what you are looking for, but they wont ship at this time of year. Look on the European section there is a thread called Nurseries in Europe or something similar, it's a gold mine.

Hi Steve

I know when the banana bug hits you, its hard not to want a banana plant asap, but trust me wait until next year, in May, the best time to order, if you get one now its going to be a nightmare trying to get the corm started, even on a heat mat, facing a south facing window, you will be throwing money down the drain.

I have never had a banana plant destroyed, or confiscated that's came from USA, never seen a phyto in my life, probably because they know you cant grow Bananas in UK except for Basjoo :ha:

Hi Stevie...I've got much the same as you, plus dwarf orinoco, rajapuri, and the Darjeeling variety 'Red Tiger' which is supposed to be as hardly as basjoo. I have a large rajapuri (in my greenhouse supported at 45 degrees because it's too tall) which is currently pregnant...it's showing lots of bananas about 3 inches long, but whether these will develop any further depends on the heat, because I can't afford to raise the minimum temperature from its current 50 fahrenheit (10 Celsius).
I've left several basjoos outside because of lack of space in greenhouse. I will be selling a Red Tiger and some dw. cavendish and Orinoco in the spring but its too cold to risk taking them out of greenhouse before then. The money goes towards my electric bill!
