I am trying to make sure I have straight the 2 parts of a banana inflorescence called the "free tepal' and "compound tepal". Can anyone provide some information concerning these?

Many Thanks!!!

Don't know offhand, but if someone wants to make a diagram, this is the "Banana Diagrams" photo gallery where it should go:

These are parts from my 'African Red' female flower, they are slightly bisexual but the tepals are pretty much the same. Those 4 little things on the left are what I assume are partially formed stamens (thus the slightly bisexual as I would call it), and the short fat white one in the middle is the free tepal, this is that part that comes off easily when handling the flowers and is usually shorter than the compound tepal which is next in line, it usually has ridges on the top and more or less encloses the sitgma (not pictured as they were still attached to ovaries) before the flowers open. I hope this helps.
