Hi guys,
new to this forum since yesterday (been reading the forum for a while).

This week I had my first two plants flowering. But watching all photos in the forum I'm not even sure what it is, it doesn't look like any other bananaplants I've seen photos of.
The plants flowering just about 8 months after germinating and looks really weak - still flowering. Need some help identifying what it is...
And if someone can tell me why it look like it does (maybe this variant looks this way)?

I live in Sweden (not the optimal country to grow bananas in) and I have grown these plants indoors since february... Maybe that's why it looks like this?

Here are some pics...

It doesn't look like a banana, because its not a banana plant, its either a canna or a heliconia, never grown them, so i cant give you any info.

Cool plant....But it is not a banana plant.
Looks like something in the lilly family.
A pic of the flower once it is opened will give a better idea what it is.

Is the plant from a bulb a tuber or from seed....this does make a difference in the identification of your plant.

The flower looks just like a canna, this is one from early June just a bit more open than yours.

It is a canna, not a banana.

No probs, my real bananaplants are still growing. In time they will hopefully flower aswell.

What are the precautions should we have to follow at the time banana tree is growing.

I know that this is a little bit of a thread necro but I'm so glad I found it.

I was given a pup two months ago and I've happily been watching it make leaves until these pointy little cones came out. We assumed it was a banana because it was in the same pot with a 2' plant, not sure how it snuck in there.

Never having grown one before I couldn't be sure and these were the first images I found that matched what I was seeing.

Here is the little bugger

Could have been from a seed that fell in the pot, usually I have to clip the seeds with nail clippers, file, etc. to get canna seed to germinate in a couple of days soaking in water. But this year they are popping up all over the flower beds from seeds that fell last year. So it looks like a year of weathering outdoors will do it also, ice included.
