Mine was Basjoo from a guy on a website when I lived in Ohio. I thought there is no way a banana would survive in Ohio winters. But I had nice large mats.

Had some dwarf Cavendish at a house that I started renting in 2007. 2 years later I had a whole farm.

Dwarf Namwah. First fruits were so delicious that I was quickly hooked to a new hobby.

I started a few seeds of ensete ventricosum several years ago, one sprouted and then got killed when it was about a year old when someone opened the window in the winter. Then a few years later, about 4 years ago, I was given a basjoo and the addiction started.

Dwarf Orinoco. Didn't care for the taste much. When I moved to FL planted 12 mats of good stuff.

Dwarf Brazilian started the insanity. My neighbor gave me a pup for my birthday. Still one of my favorite bananas.

african rhino horn and after 2-3 years of trying to grow them i am finally getting my first bloom.
The third banana plant "Pisang Awak or Namva" was the first one to bloom out of the three plants I started with. The other two were my newly discovered Raja Puri and my other unknown tall fat banana plant. After that I just couldn't stop myself from buying bananas. I want to collect them all...

The ARH is very slow taking off for me too. Have 2 pstems in one spot. One from Keith in PR and one from Lowes. Should have fruit next year. This is not normal for my banana beds. Especially with the 6-3-16 "super fruiter" fert from Diamond R that I use.
