Bummer: we had a huge rain storm yesterday afternoon. It snapped my Blue Java which had a beautiful fruit bunch hanging I was looking so forward to:

Fruits were hanging for three month. Bunch was nicely supported, but wind gusts of 60 miles/hr were just too much for it. Not quite filled in yet, but hanging now in the garage and hopefully some fruits will be edible....

My loss, someone elses gain: I have saved this corm pup. If interested, please send me a PM. It is soaking now in a seaweed solution and will be potted up otherwise.

So sad. I have a Blue Java with a bunch hanging right now as well. My p-stem is really starting to lean. I want to get it propped up before something similar happens to my plant.

They are "leaners" in general.
Propping is mandatory. I have another bunch growing and a third inflorescence is showing up, so all is good. I was looking forward to this particular bunch though, because it was filling in and ripening over a very nice summer.
Get yours propped ASAP, you never know when these summer storms will hit. There was no warning in the weather forecast, but my bunch was propped with 2" PVC pipe and still did not make it through that nasty storm.

Thanks. It was hanging for three month, but some fruits are very nice and fat already. I usually like to see some color change on some fruits before harvesting an entire bunch, so with this bunch I would think it would have taken between 1 - 3 more month ....
The weight of the bunch so far was already #20

Thanks for the info. I have some PVP piping I pick up. This will be my project on Saturday.

Sorry to hear of your lose but think positive. On a side note what's the difference in the ice cream an blue java ice cream plants? Do either plants look different? I have just the ice cream. Thx.

ice cream and blue java ice cream are the same. however many nurseries sell namwah as bj/ic.

Let it be where it is and see if it ripens. Mound some compost over the root ball and water well. You might be surprised.

I'll be damn, the same thing happened to me this weekend also. We had a storm in Daytona Beach and it broke my AeAe with a fruit bunch in half and on the way down it also took down the largest sucker that was growing in front of it. Needless to say, I am not so happy. I am going to take the really large plant and pot it on a big pot and treat it as a corm and wait to see any growth before I start to really water it. but the one with the fruit was broken in half. I will let it lay there till I see the fruit start to die of ripen. I don't think that they are old enough to ripen at all. Let me take this minute to say this about AeAe: They are not all that they are made out to be. Very messy trees not the best fruit, and suckers that die one after another after another. They are pretty indeed and I a happy I have one but they are not all that they are made out to be. The only one that is happy or realizes what I have is me. So it is a personal thing.

Darn it. Sorry to read this Rick. It sucks, no matter what. I have had some real good Blue Java fruit as well as some okay ones to eat. But I am sure one thing applies to the AeAe like it does to the "real deal" Blue Java: they are pretty awesome to look at. I have no computer or Photoshop skills, so the colors of the bunch are the actual blue-silver colors, photo taken with my iPhone. Unique and tasty.

OK...... Who in the heck can sell me a Blue Java that has fruit that looks like the fruit in this picture in this thread??? I have cut down all of mine because they are just short bananas that do taste god but DO NOT look like the ones in this pic or as described by others that say that they have true Blue Java. I WANT ONE......

Obviously I have the real Blue Java.
Not that I have any space left, but ummmmm: want to trade a pup for an AeAe pup in the future?

100% true color. No photoshop skills here. I rather spend my time with gardening....

The pup will go to its new home this afternoon.
