Well I broke off a 6' Veinte Cohol, so I cut the stem and stuck it in my grass mound to see how well my compressed grass works to help it recover.. :^)

No.

I use plenty of uncomposted organic material and I've found that it's important to maintain proper moisture and temperature levels to protect the insects that are breaking it down for the bananas to feed. 2-3" slices of a log work very well. All my photos of large bunches are done this way, the more slices the more insects, the more insects the more manure.

I'll mulch over everything and the roots and plant just grow bigger faster.

I'll have to try the thin cut logs. I have one sitting around waiting to get cut up while this bad boy recovers, before it goes in a pot next month.. :^)
