Maybe some of you do this, but right before I am about to separate a pup I give the plant a decent watering (just enough that the dirt is nice and damp but not flooded with water). The water seems to hold the dirt around the roots and keep them intact with the pup. I have had little to no recovery time doing this every time I have split the pups. Before I starting using this trick, I would only get a few roots still attached and the plant would take weeks to recover and I would lose several leaves. Just my two cents for those of you having trouble.

I'm very sorry to ask but I'm not a native speaker. I guess you are talking about both recovering times. The time to recover for the mother and for the pup?

(maybe im only confused because last time i seperated my banana I potted both in other pots)

I'd be glad if you could help me :) (my pup did well within one week but i cut 4 leaves)

When I cut pups to pot up I put them in the shade till I see growth, since it's so hot here..

Mainly the recovery time of the pup. I have never seen the mother affected by removing one.

I use my Ryobi 18V Tree branch trimmer , removes the pup like Butter, without shaking the Mother plant..
