Default Whats tour thoughts ?

I know the 18 month rule, and the plant it by September rule. However my potted plant area is overgrown and I need to get rid of some or plant them. 3 of them were picked as pups last year so they should take the winter ok. I have another 3 that were picked as very large pups (3-4 footers) but they were picked this spring. I live in central California zone 9b. I was wondering if I should put them all in the ground? Or is it to late to do so ? I also have a dozen or so tissue cultures from this spring, however I know not dare stick them out for winter this year

I also have 5 pups on some trees. Is it safe to chop them now? Or leave them attached till next spring ?

If the potted pups are all well rooted, I think their chances in the ground are probably about as good as in pots that stay outdoors. If they were newly separated pups that are going to have to grow new root systems, I'd be more inclined to keep them in pots, where it is easier to control how wet the soil is. But with well-established, actively growing potted ones, I don't think it is too late to plant them in the ground in central California.
