Local greenhouse has been getting nanners from them for sometime now. Everything has been correct until now. It's suppose to be a Musa Red Iholena. But another board member said it doesn't look correct. I thought the burgendy not being under the leaves like the tag said was odd. But pics online look like what I have. But abershrek said it's cavendish! Grr. Looks different then the cavendish families I grow though? Really dark red pstem, darker then my cavendish famlies.

I believe my red iholene came from agristarts via a big box store. It took a little while for the red to develop but it is now there.

It is pretty red, but some cavendish are and with those short, wide open petioles it definitely is.

My guess would be gran nain due to the red color of the pseudostem.

You can't really blame agristarts unless you buy directly from them, the nurseries are also likely to mix things up or mislabel them. I had plenty of sports, but very few cases of actual mislabeling except in the known cases of Misi Luki and Ice Cream. I think I had 5 plants out of 2000 that were actually mix-ups. I was far more likely to accidentally pick up a FHIA-17 with my Giant Plantains and 18 months later wonder why I have one banana plant in a 600' row of plantains.

Just got another email from them.

That very well could be Red Iholene, the trunk as good color. You'll know
for sure when it blooms. I would assume at this point it is Red Iholene, if
they had our tags in it.

Your red iholena looks like my dwarf cav, which I used to think was a GN bc of its red stems, but was corrected by several members that this was actually a trait of the DC and that GN actually has a much more green stem.
