After 1 year and 2 month of wait and hard work we have finally arrived at the promised land. Before I started to grow bananas in Texas I wonder if it was even possible to get fruits in the 6 to 8 month growing season of Central Texas and the answer was yes, if you do the math correct and you get a mature plant on the grown in the early spring there is a great chance you will get some bananas. Well, let me qualify the answer, if you choose the right cultivar and do the math right then you have a great chance you will get some fruits on the fall.(See Pictures Below)

This was Aug 8 when I noticed the flower coming out. This is are the Musa Hua Moa Hawaiian

I think I will have time for the bananas to grow and get ready to harvest by Nov 8 or so or I hope I do. I will be posting updates every few months to see the time it take to mature and the size of the final fruit.

Congratulations! That's bigger than the only Hua Moa bunch I've been able to grow here in Hawaii out of the 2 plants I had, which have since died.

Congrats & Great Job, keep us updated on it's progress.

It only takes about 8 weeks to harvest as a dessert banana.

If you have some older photos maybe you can try using them for a comparison.

Try squeezing the fruit, they are soft and they don't ever get hard.

That's the main reason I can't sell them in Puerto Rico, folks here know that they are bananas and prefer to eat a hard plantain.

Maybe try growing the FHIA-21, it's a fast growing banana plantain cross, folks here still don't like'em but it's harder than a banana.

Will it be better to fry them as a ripen banana? I don't think I have enough time to let then rip. I have maybe 2 more moths at the most.

We are hitting the final stretch of the season and hoping my banana bunch make trough. Harvest day should be Nov 8 but if the weather get to cold I might have to harvest earlier. Below are some pictures showing how the bunch looks today.

I need help identifying a disease or maybe a over watering problem. I finally got my first banana bunch (Hua Moa) and I am noticing that after two months the bananas are starting to split open on the end getting black in the middle but not all the way trough. Here I attached some pictures for more details

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
