Greetings, shy of ecstatic but excited to find this group. I live in Michigan, zone 6. I have a manmade stream which I plant many different varieties of Taro plants that have to be over wintered, I have approximately 22 banana plants three or four different varieties. Not sure which variety they are, not knowing the variety is why I searched for this forum. I am familiar with assisting plants go dormant. Side note I do have Koi and Comets in the stream which the last three years I have lost all the fish to a mink that has outsmarted me each winter. I hope to eventually know which banana plants I have and increase my knowledge base. [IMG]C:\Users\Ricci\Pictures\7-2-2014 Bananas\Banana Org Post[IMG]

Welcome fellow naner-head!!! You need to upload the photo to the internet before posting in the image tags """URL"""

Mink eating your fish hmmm maybe a leaf net will help? I use every winter to keep falling leafs out of mine, IDK if a mink will chew through?

COOL! Your photo?

Thanks to everyone who took the time to look and read my situation, the side note about the mink thank you for the idea, the mink easily ripped through the leaf net, live traps didn't work caught; playful inquisitive young raccoon, possum, cat, dog twice, no mink: there are 3 distinct different banana trees, Michigan State University has been successful at leaving a similar green banana tree in the ground through winter by mulching, the two I attempted rotted over winter, the plants in the photos were all kept indoors in a temperature around 65°F. At this time I have 22 plants counting all the pups. I would like to get proficient enough to leave any that can be left in the ground over winter, in the ground over winter. I over-winter literally 100's of Taro's and other marginal plants, Thank you for your time
