Dear Tony,
Well, is there really any question about this or are you trying to make desperate fat hillbillies or illegal aliens and reputable dignified unbiased citizens that have done their research fight for moral justification...?
Realize all vehicles WILL need routine maintenance to remain fully functional, some less than others... There is no first question you should ask about the manufacturer.
In my opinion, if you ask if Chevy is better than Ford you might as well keep driving your Kia or Hyundai; you're not ready for a truck although both are great manufacturers.
No need to tell sunnyfish what's up Cincinnana. ;) :D Really too much to compare... Variety, experience, engine performance, safety features, int./ext. standard features and styling and durability and functionality, off/on road, fuel economy, price, payload, tow capacity, blah blah blah !
Your next thread should be: who is prettier and smarter brunettes or blondes?... haha
IMO stick to comparing bananas; there is less to compare.
Sincerely,
Snookie

Yeah I iz smart, I think you meant "you're".
It's not about the car it's about what is in the trunk:

And if you're confused about Ice Cream, everyone has different taste preferences. I know you think you know what the real deal is. :)

IMO, Ford is better right now. They dont seem to break as much and feel much bigger inside.
I prefer to go with the Toyota.

I've had both, and can buy fords at no mark up through a friend who owns a dealership, and still drive a Tundra. IMHO, if you're looking under at 3/4 ton trucks, the Toyota is really hard to beat. That said, both Ford and Chevy have great diesel trucks on the market these days of you're going heavy.
I have an older s-10 that I hate; it's an automatic. I drove a Ranger when I was landscaping and adored her. At this point in my life I'm ready to be a yabba dabba do kind of gal.

I've owned 2 Toyota trucks a 4x4 pickup and a t-100 both were great trucks. Drove Ford trucks for 28 years working construction and they help up well.

I am 52 years old and have done my own repairs on my vehicles all my life. In the early 80's I bought a 72' Toyota Celica that needed a timing chain and I was amazed at how well the Toyota was designed and how easy it was to work on. The car was designed by competent people, the brake bleeder bolt came loose like the car was made yesterday. The GM cars bleeder bolts broke off fairly often if not heated up. Toyota understood metallurgy and the bolts did not break, very simple things that the idiots at GM could not figure out. I worked at an Olds dealer and could not believe how crappy the cars were in the early 80's. I can't possibly tell you how many times I was told by a customer "I've been driving 30,40,50, years and never had one of those break". I have also owned 2 Forerunners and now a Tundra and I will never own a GM POS again, or any American vehicle for that matter. Does not matter what day they were built, they were crap on the drawing board. Make a note of what cars you see broke down on the side of the road.

Don't be sad get glad :)
Okay, after you're equipped with something in the trunk, lesson two: The manufacturer is less important than what is besides in the passenger seat.
Your partner/mate/match will determine your driving habits hence, the longevity of the truck or vehicle. Different people need different... Preachers dua. and strippers didn't work for me; too many tickets and bump-ups. Ima teacher or lawyers daughter kinda guy. ;)
