I was given a.pup last week. I potted it in a 2 1/2 gal pot. I water daily, and today I checked on it and it was as yellow as a banana. Now I know the plant is probably stressing, but is there anything i can do to reduce the stress and secure the health of this plant?

Is it a freshly detached pup straight from mom to the pot, and is it in full sun? I always put mine in the shade for the first week or two until I start to see fresh growth signaling that the roots have grown, and adapted. When a new leaf starts moving, then I put it in bright partial sun for another week, and then full sun if that type of banana requires it. Also, some types dont seem to transplant as well, for example Velutina will usually lose a lot of leaves for me, but starts putting out new leaves soon after.

Chill out, be patient. It is shocked, and will look worse for a while, and then a miracle will happen and new leaves will appear and all will be well.

I put mine in semi shade water them once till I see growth.. Then I transition to sun.. Gives time for roots to grow, and don't loose any leaves.. :v)

I put it on the west side of my house so it gets minimal sun between me and my neighbors house. And yes it went straight from shovel sever to a pot of soil. Would vitamin B1 help any ?

Stop watering daily. If it has no, or few, functional leaves, it isn't transpiring and so isn't losing much water. Don't let it completely dry out, but it shouldn't need daily watering.

I have personally seen no difference using products like Superthrive, but a lot of people say it works. It can't hurt to try. If it's a nice pup with sufficient mass, it should survive.

+1 on not overwatering it. I go easy on the water until I see new growth. I dust the roots with mychorrhizae powder, pot it up and add some Miracle-Gro Quick Start Liquid Plant Food to the initial watering. I then leave the pup in filtered sunlight for a week or so.

Good luck.

You're probably overwatering it, but that can't be said conclusively w/out seeing a photo and knowing the cultivar.
Excessive amounts water can be very useful at times but it really depends on the cultivar.

This pup was orientated correctly and kept completely submerged for 337 hours.
The white colored roots are new growth and the black were the old roots.

These pups were kept in a full bucket of water for 351 hours.

the lady told me to put the pup in a bucket of water for 48 hours. I just thought id plant and water like I do with all my other pups. only good I see is that newer shoot way in the back.

No aeration - ambient temperature - water changed after 2 weeks
