View Full Version : Location Requirement

I think the location of members should be a required field. It is hard to help people sometimes if we do not know where they are located. I may think some banana is cool and someone posted how they overwinter it, but if I don't know where they are growing it, it really doesn't help me decide if I can try it at my place here in Little Rock.
I never could get the map function to work but I have tried to give a general idea of where I live in my profile; the weather is much different here than where I gardened before. I agree with making it required.

Maybe growing zone, since it's general enough but not invasive on new folks.. People like me don't want nobody knowing where we are hiding our Banana's, even though we like to show them off once in a while.. Yah know.. :v)

I agree banned members without location I am pinned on the map down to my zip code level. I hope this is enough to keep me from being banned, but not so close someone comes to take my banana plant away. ;) Perhaps others can at least locate themselves down to the City or Zip Code level. I know a Zip Code may be just a USA thing but other countries must have something similar. I really do like to see what city area others are from, even if i have to Google a previously unknown city to me up on a map.
PS: I am not interested stealing in your banana trees, just knowing the type you are growing and where.

See, they don't have to put their exact city. I don't actually live in Little Rock, but I don't put my smaller city because no one out of state would know where it is. I only live 15 miles from Little Rock so that's close enough.
Banning someone for not giving their actual address is stupid; some of us oldsters are very Web smart so are more obscure. But a zone or a town doesn't pin you down really. Unless you're using your real name...:drum:
Actually, if I ever get my own dirt again, those members nearby should be very afraid because I'm gonna be hunting pups--free with permission is great--free without works also.:ha:

To me being overly worried someone knows where I live is like being worried my name and address is posted in a phone book. Never the less in this world I am still cautious and understand it. Never the less there is already enough information on the left to find me if you wish. Although if you really want a pup, I will happily GIVE you an SDC, no stealth required. :)
Boy you have lots of excuses.
Your words(I agree with making it required.) DuhExcuses? Moi? I say where I am living currently along with the "zone" (which is subject to interpretation and always has been.) Find me if you can; I dare you.

EDIT: Further research shows Kat around https://www.google.com/maps/search/Cocoa+on+the+River/@28.372669,-80.6685105,13z/data=!3m1!4b1 IF she is not misdirecting us. ;)

Ah, I see where your bananas are on satellite view. And your bananas are still safe, Louisiana is a bit of a long of a drive for me.

My current location is where I am at the moment. :p
It is helpful, but some people do want to have a degree of anonymity. That's why some people use their real name, while others use a moniker.
