The Moringa is a very tall tree in the Philippines. The leaves and young fruits are used as vegetable in local cooking. It may be possible to grow it as a bush but that would require constant pruning. I have seen Moringas in West Palm Beach schoolyards where they were only 10 ft tall at 4" caliper trunk. The leaves were very sparse and the upper branches were skinny. This could be due to the weather then (between August'04 and February'05, just after and during the hurricanes). If you prune vigorously, you may end up with very stout trunk and branches, which is probably desirable. In which case you may harvest lots of leaves and few fruit. People, in rural areas, pick near-ripe fruits of the Moringa and consume the beans (seeds) raw as an antidote to arthritis.
By the way, just last night, I was at the local Ranch 99 grocery in Kent, WA looking for Asian vegetables and I happen to stumble on some bunches of Moringa leaves. My wife gasped at the price - $7.49/lb! So, happy Moringa growing!
