The temps are now in the low 90's with high humidity here in Arkansas. Each afternoon the bananas are wilting. My OCD is bothered by the constant wilting. lol. Is there something I can do to keep them from wilting? They get watered every other day. Cheers.

if they automatically rebound when the sun drops then don't increase watering. move it more into the shade instead

They rebound in the evening, but they sure would be prettier if they didn't wilt.

understood... the heat has been brutal, but the fact that they rebound in the evening tells you that they are retaining water. are you using mulch? that might help keep the ground temps down. my bananas seem to be doing much better in the heat with it.

I have about five inches of pine bark mulch around them. I'd post a pic but have trouble doing so on the Ipad.

sounds like you're doing everything you can.. i just read the weather stats in your signature and i guess it just gets too hot for them to keep the leaves open.

Same thing happens to most of my plants also....
The banana leaves just fold in half to minimize the exposure to the sun, then when it goes down they return to normal.
Drives me Cray.

Drives me Cray.Drove me "cray" on my poor Jville DC, too! :ha: As long as you know the roots are hydrated and they are not still curled at night or early in the morning, they'll be fine. They look very sad but, even spraying them with water midday, won't stop the them from folding up. AMHIK.

You ought to see my Brugmansias in the heat of the day......blah.

Had to go look up what they were. I love Angel trumpets! Funny yet beautiful flowers; I need some someday! Thanks to a couple of bargain racks, I'm into hibiscus just now. The up north ones are not nearly as pretty plus their dropped "bloom for a day" flowers are really nasty.
