I see so many nanners in people's backyards all over the San Antonio area and i even picked one up from a friend and he even told is it was called common banana. My question is wtf is is common banana really called lol. I see them at sea world the zoo etc they are all over and they do produce nanners but I haven't tried them but i hear they are not bad. I know they die back during our winters but some back strong with crazy pups. I know its a long shot but I'm wondering if anyone has any idea. I hope to get some fruit by the end of summer and I will get some pics if they do. A wild guess is that they are Orinoco

What sunfish said. Also a quick question: how cold does the warmest part of Texas get? I see your zone is 9 but I was thinking there were some 10+ parts of Texas where you can grow year round?

Yes they are mainly Orinoco. I travel a lot thru South Texas (The Rio Grande valley, Laredo, Corpus, and San Antonio) and I see them a lot. The coldest temperature in the winter is in 20s but its only for a day or 2, if we are lucky enough.

Gee whiz, 9F! We barely see a day under 60F in the winter so if I grow those they should do okay :ha:
