Yeah, it's got drain holes and it's full of soil...took all day to fill by hand! I transplanted from a "normal" pot. I figure its no different than planting in the ground at this point. I soaked it real good before planting and it drained very well.
I got two, found them on Craig's List for $100 each under the title "Giant flower pot". After getting them home, did some googling and found they cost over a thousand dollars new from some fancy Italian designer. Mainly used in public spaces, theme parks, shopping malls, etc. Score!

The kids thought they were quite fun.

Yes, the one in the big pot is a Basjoo. Initially I thought I would try and get it to winter over (I am in New York). Do you think cutting it short and mulching/insulating the crap out of it will work? My fear is that the pot, even though big, is above ground and will likely freeze, especially if we have another winter like the last. I will probably wuss out and just dig it up and bring it inside.

That large of a pot has gotta have some thermal retention, I think I would leave a good size pup in it, and see what happens.

My other Bananas looked pretty rough after bringing them inside for the winter, but are coming back nicely. New growth on each!

I love that pot. For some reason I think my wife wouldn't like it in the yard though.

Well, the Basjoo loves the big pot!
BUT. Already pupping! What's up with that! Should I cut them off?
