I've been enjoying the site for a couple of weeks now and just now getting around to introducing myself. I'm a thirty something mom to one 3-year-old boy. I've kept a garden for almost ten years, but just recently taken it really seriously. Last year, I enlarged my xeric/butterfly garden in the front yard. It's rather natural looking and low maintenance. That has freed up my time and resources to focus on growing some really lush tropical plants around my patio in the back yard, ya know closer to the rain barrel!
Last year, I visited family in Tennessee and fell in love with their banana plants. Not sure what variety they are, but I was smitten with the idea of a tropical paradise that I could haul into the garage or house come winter. Now, I have several types of cannas, elephant ears, dahlias, a meyer lemon, a fig tree, 2 potted super dwarf cavendish, 1 ensete ventricosum maurelii, 1 musa basjoo in the ground.... and I really want a papaya, but I'm trying to make myself wait for some reason. Haha!
I'm sure I'm going to learn a lot from ya'll. Everyone has been so nice already!
BTW, my name is Emilee. Frankie is my papillon. I'm smitten with him too, as well as his little bro Elvis!
